2013 Wide Bay University of the Sunshine Coast Science Research Awards Results

Chanara’s enthusiasm was infectious as she explained her reasons for protecting mangroves.
The Science Research Awards are an investigation-based science competition which was hosted by Xavier Catholic College. The Science Research Awards were open to any students in Years 11 or 12. The Science Research Awards offered a great way to share student’s findings from some real-life science.

Each entry (individual or team) posed a question as a hypothesis and then planned and completed a scientific investigation to answer that question. The project was written up as a scientific report, which is then summarised and displayed as a poster. The projects were assessed by judges according to written content visual content and oral communication of entrants’ research to judges.

Representing Xavier were Chanara Gettons, Meg Moore, Julie Doan and Daniel Hoole. The students were fantastic ambassadors for our school. We especially congratulate Meg and Julie who were awarded first prize in the year 12 category. They received a prize of $250.
