2014 Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Awards

Long Tan.png

One of the most well-known Australian military engagements during the Vietnam War, was the2
Battle of Long Tan on 318 August 1966. The battle saw the action of 108 ANZACS4 against a Viet Cong force5 estimated between 1,500 and 2,500. The Battle was one of the heaviest conflicts of the Vietnam War as well as one the few battles in the recorded history of the world to be won against such odds.
In memory of this important part of Australia’s military history, the Australian Defence Force sponsors the Long Tan Leadership & Teamwork Awards. This year the Australian Defence Force sought nominations for Yr10 & 12 students throughout Australia who met a wide range of criteria including, Leadership, Teamwork, Problem-Solving & Resourcefulness. Successful Yr10 award recipients receive a certificate and a cheque for $250. Yr12 award recipients receive a certificate and a cheque for $550.
This year Xavier Catholic College successfully nominated students in both of these year levels.
We are pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2014 Yr10 Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork award is Tyrell Denduck and the recipient of the 2014 Yr12 Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork award is Tom O’Neill.
Congratulations to Tyrell and Tom on their awards.
