2015 Fraser Coast Interschool Equestrian Competition

On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st August the college was represented by a team of riders, and their horses, at the annual Fraser Coast Interschool Equestrian Competition at the Maryborough Showgrounds. Nellie Davis (Yr6), Emily Berghofer (Yr6) and Elias Broome (Yr6) and their steeds (Emperor Albert, Merlin & Zoro) competed for points in a variety of disciplines including Dressage, Campdrafting, Stockman’s Challenge, Show Jumping, Hacking and Sporting . All the students represented the college proudly over the two days with the team taking out 3rd place, from a field of over 70 schools, in the Mounted Parade on Friday morning. In addition to this great team result, riders competed strongly in their individual disciplines with Nellie Davis taking out 2nd place in Dressage, 3rd place in Stockman’s Challenge, Led hack and Showjumping (60cm) and 4th place in Ridden Hack, and Emily Berghofer achieving 2nd place in Showjumping (40cm). Elias also performed well across a range pf disciplines.

The students, and their horses, performed admirably in this very large competition which included in excess of 250 riders from more than 70 schools, and are to be commended on their efforts and extensive preparations leading up to the events over the two days. Not even cold early morning conditions, and some rain and showers, could quell their enthusiasm. This is the fifth consecutive year the college has been represented at this large equestrian event. Special thanks also to Mrs Davis for all her work leading up to, and including, the event. Thanks also to the students’ parents Mrs Kelli Berghofer and Ms Cheri Peters who assisted at the event and provided some great photos for the college archive.
