 International Exchange Programme

As part of our international exchange programme, Xavier has established a sister school connection with another Jesuit school, Saint Joseph’s in Avignon, in the South of France. As many of you are aware, our students were very warmly received by the staff and students from this school last April during our 2015 French tour. All students were billeted with a host family providing them with the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture of the country. Many of our students are still communicating with their homestay brothers, sisters and families and planning return visits as a consequence of this experience.

This year the staff and students from Saint Joseph’s will be visiting us at Xavier, providing us with an opportunity to repay their generosity. Many thanks to the families who have already volunteered to host three students, however we are in need of more host families. There will be 35 students on the tour who will be approximately 15 to 17 years old and they will be staying with us in Hervey Bay from around the 12th to the 25th of October. We are asking Xavier families if they could billet one or two of these students for that time.  Most days these students would be on an excursion or attending classes where they would travel to and from school with their homestay brothers and sisters. This would provide host families the opportunity to make international connections and gain an insight into life in Southern France.

If you would be prepared to assist with the hosting of these students, could you please contact Loretta Swann, by Friday August 19.
