Matthew Hauser, 15, of Hervey Bay has represented the Fraser Coast at state and national competitions in triathlon and cross country.

His sporting and athletic achievements are evenly matched by his character and well-rounded personality.

Matthew is extremely dedicated and reliable and conducts himself professionally. He also pitches in and helps organise, set up and clean up after events.

He has recently been selected as Australia's representative to the Youth Olympic Games in China which will be held in August. Only one male and one female are selected to attend.

In 2013 Matthew competed widely in triathlons bringing home the Overall Youth Champion from the Scody National Triathlon Series; was selected in the Queensland Triathlon Team; was the dual National Triathlon Champion; and was the youngest of 12 athletes from across the country to be selected to attend the National Triathlon Talent Academy.

In October he broke a 17-year-old record when he took first place in the Under 16's 3000m race at the Queensland School Sport Athletics Championships in Brisbane in 8 minutes and 41 seconds.

Off the field his achievements include the Gold Academic Award at Xavier Catholic College 2013.
