 Leadership Address - Term 3, Week 5, 2016

Senior School Athletics Carnival
Last Friday we were very lucky with the weather staying dry to get through the program for our senior school Athletics. Narwari came out overall winners on the day however it was a close race. There were many fine performances from individual students as well as great House spirit.

The Opening Ceremony was as always memorable and this time saw Mr. Swann arriving on a motorbike, flanked by Rio Carnivale dancers, to light the flame to commence the Games!

NAPLAN Reports for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9
The individual Student reports from the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing that was conducted last May for all students in years 3, 5, 7 & 9 will be sent home this week.

Accompanying the report was a brochure that will assist parents to understand the information contained in the Student Report. It is recommended that it is read thoroughly and used it to understand information that has come from the testing program. We strongly suggest that the report is retained for comparison in future years.

Over the coming weeks Brisbane Catholic Education will also upload individual student results on to the Parent Portal, look out for this information.

If you require more information about the report in general, you can visit the VCAA website at www.qcaa.qld.edu.au or the NAPLAN website at www.naplan.edu.au or contact us at the College

Assistant Principal-Administration Performance Review

Apart from an expectation by Brisbane Catholic Education, it is also part of our Ignatian philosophy to participate in regular refective  processes to assess our progress. Mr Reagen Collier, APA, Middle Years, is undertaking such a review during this term.

As a component of this process, a confidential on-line survey is being conducted by Simons & Associates (trading as Ardjuna), an independent survey company. As community consultation is highly valued, a sample of families selected across various year levels will have received an invitation to participate in this survey.  The invitation would have been emailed directly to families by Ardjuna, appearing as “automail@ardjuna.com”.   This survey will be conducted over a two week period.

Kondari Mission Week
This Monday was the Feast Day of St. Mary, of the Cross, MacKillop our patron saint of Kondari House. Our Year 5 students attended mass with Star of the Sea students to celebrate this feast day. As a great start to this Mission Week, Kondari offered students and staff the opportunity to wear a red top and donate a gold coin to charity. Kondari leaders, both students and staff were seen wearing red t-shirts with an image of St. Mary on the front. A great way to promote the patron and the charity.
We look forward to the activities to be held over the week.

Competing at Gympie & Maryborough Eisteddfods
A very big congratulation to the Arts/Music staff, and Ms. McDuff who acted as Coordinator, for the great results our students achieved at the recent eisteddfods. On Monday our Mini Singers placed second, our Junior Choir received a highly commended and our Senior Choir a first place. On Tuesday our Year 3 students placed second in their verse speaking section. Well done to all of our students and thank you to our staff who have worked hard in preparing them for the competitions.
