 SVDP School Sleep Out

This week a small number of students stayed overnight at school to participate in St Vincent De Paul’s school sleep out. We arrived on Tuesday evening already in our pyjamas and ready for a memorable night. We had guest speakers from Comfort Kitchen, Saint Vinnies and Youthcare Hervey Bay, who spoke to us about homelessness in our community and also helped to build our awareness on the topic. Thanks to the Magis Minis, we filled our empty stomachs with soup and bread that was much appreciated. The whole point of the night was to experience what it is like to be homeless and feel the sense of idleness a homeless person does day in day out. Undoubtedly, the sleep out opened all of our eyes to homelessness and made us more aware of the things that can be done and are already being done to eradicate homelessness.
