Xavier Students Shine at Australian School Sport National Triathlon Championships

Xavier Winners – Brooke Willis, Matt Hauser, Daniel Willis and Christian Wilson
During the Easter break, the Australian School Sport National Triathlon Championships were held in Penrith.  Xavier Catholic College and Queensland were represented by some Xavier students who had some outstanding results. In fact, the team took out the Champion State and Relay Trophies and four of our Xavier students had a major part to play in the success!
Brooke Willis (Yr. 12) was again selected to captain the Queensland team and she won a gold medal in the Senior Girls Individual Triathlon and also won a silver medal in the Senior Girls relay event. Daniel Willis (Yr. 11) came out of the swim leg first in the Intermediate Boys Individual Race and finished 22nd overall. He also came away with a silver medal in the Intermediate Boys Relay.
Christian Wilson (Yr. 12) won a bronze medal in the Senior Boys Individual Race and teamed up with Matt Hauser (Yr. 10) to win gold in the All Age Boys Relay. Matt made it back to back wins, stepping up to the Intermediate age group to claim gold again this year.
To have four Xavier students winning medals over the two days of competition, including two National Champions and a Queensland Captain, is an outstanding achievement!  Feedback to us was that they represented Xavier and Queensland very well, displaying responsibility and good sportsmanship throughout the Championships.
