Year 7 spent an exciting 3 days in the
Brisbane and Gold Coast area. Highlights included a tour of Parliament House, a
day at Seaworld and time at the Sciencentre. Students stayed at Watson Park
Convention Centre on the north side of Brisbane.
At Parliament House, students marvelled at the
gilded ceilings, intriguing historical displays and expansive rooms. They learnt
of parliament proceedings and how to have their say online. At Seaworld,
teachers and students alike delighted at the cheeky antics of seals and sea
lions in ‘Fish Detectives’, amazed at the acrobatic skills of dolphins in
‘Imagine’ and awestruck by the majesty of sharks and stingrays in Shark Bay
(there was even a pregnant shark!).
On the third day, Year 7 made their way to the
Queensland Science Museum. There, they
immersed themselves in some awesome interactive exhibits in Body Zone, Action
Stations, Megawatt and Think Science.
