Year 8 Camp
is at Luther Heights at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast. This camp is designed as
an opportunity for students and teachers to get to know each other on a more
personal level. The camp goals are for students to appreciate each other from
new perspectives and see individuals in a different light that does not usually
appear at school.
Activities
include flying fox, raft building, initiative games, garbage bag fashion
designs, archery and a visit to the beach. Activities involve cooperation, teamwork,
imagination, tolerance, trust, confronting fears. The food is excellent and
caters for a large range of tastes. Accommodation is comfortable, bunk style
with separate boys and girls cabins.
The highlight
is usually the flying fox, it is very long and you get a great view out over
the ocean and also the raft challenge, even though the waters are dark and
murky most students end up facing the challenge of building a raft as a team
endeavouring to get across to the other side without losing anyone.
